Goele Dewanckel was born in 1959. She lives in France, but teaches at the Sint Lucas School of Fine Arts in Ghent.
His style is refined, borrowed from German Expressionism, reminiscent of Ernst Ludwig Kirchner. both in the choice of colours and shapes. It uses basic colors such as black, white and red and adds little detail to the basic shapes.
His drawings look like engravings. His style perfectly complements strong and moving texts, as his simple drawings leave room for the reader's interpretation.She prefers mysterious or deep stories. Goele Dewanckel's bright colours serve to amplify expressive contrasts or to emphasize the symbolic values of the texts. "In the Land of Titus" by Claudine Galea and Goele Dewanckel at editions du Rouerge is the winner of the 2008 "Competition of the Most Beautiful French Books".
