DELPHINE DEGUISLAGE

I was born on July 15, 1980

Studies at L'ENSAV (National Higher School of Visual Arts) La Cambre from 2000 to 2005. Screen-printing option.

Technical:

In general, I don't have a medium of choice. I use the

material and technique that best lend themselves to the realization of my idea.

For the works presented here: screen printing, Chinese ink and ecoline, LEE filters, DVD, dia projector and digital projector.

Themes:

In general, visual perception, space, color and light.

In this exhibition:

- installation: light, color, perception.

- silkscreens: perception of the landscape when travelling by car. Parallax of movement or how do objects appear in our visual field?

-watercolors: Reflection on Space. Here and elsewhere.

What notion of space offers us society when the notions of time and space become short?

Method:

My work can be described as conceptual because I tend to materialize my ideas.

My work process is as follows; I take notes in a notebook that I always carry with me. I draw, note thoughts, reflections on observations of everyday life. Then I look for the way that seems most fair to me to materialize the whole thing and present it to the public.

About WHAT I PRESENTE A L'ORANGERIE:

I wanted to introduce new jobs.

"Parallax N4" is a work I produced during an artist residency, it's the first time I present it to the public.

These are 5 moments from a video filmed on National 4.

You can see how the surfaces and shapes of the landscape change during a lateral movement.

I wanted to use the architecture of the place. The perforated holes in the doors made me think of a frame (used in printing processes like off-set and screen printing).

Hence the idea of projecting colored light through these holes and superimposing two kinds of colors.

Filters (gelatin used for theatre projectors for example) that are colored material and digital color flats projected via a digital projector (the colors are composed of red, green and blue as the light synthesis wants).

The result is a mixture of two different color productions.

LAURE GATELIER

I was born on May 5, 1982.I did my high schooling at INDSE in Bastogne. Immediately afterwards, I started my artistic studies in St Luc in Brussels. The following year I enrolled at the Erg School of Graphic Research optional installation and video. I finished the Erg in 2005. Now I live and work in Brussels.

My work talks about the fragility of objects and their interweaving in space. The color and magic of every little thing is important. I always try to play on the textures and materials that I use sometimes to soften the viewer's gaze sometimes to remove a visual attachment. When I exhibit my work, I really like to play on the place and install my works to talk about the place itself.

Technical:

Plaster - ecoline - plasticine

Themes:

The play of round and square shapes.

The fragility of the material and the visual effect it produces when moulded.

The model, the model, reproduce in smaller a form that interests me.

Inside and out, empty and full. Fill a void, see the full of some form.

The method:

For plaster casting, I use cardboard salvage materials, such as cardboard crates or pipes. I cut them out and recreate shapes from them. Once the cardboard mold is consolidated and waterproof I pour my plaster. I leave a part of chance to mold sometimes the plaster by its weight distorts the cardboard or makes kinds of drippings. Then there is the magic of unmoulding I am never 100% sure of the result. I really like this part of magic that does not leave me alone master on board because the materials themselves by their fragility or their reaction choose the final form of the sculpture.

The projections are a continuity of the sculptures on a 2-dimensional medium. As for the dyeing of the plaster, I paint the dias with ecoline.

With the paper I use to paint, the colors have different depths and are deposited in relief like a sculpture. The reactions here are also very important!! But I wouldn't say more... Laugh...

What interests me in this work is the intriguing scale report! At first, one has the impression of seeing a painting and then with the details, one realizes that the image to the size of a small dia.
